Lewes Rugby Club - Project Turnaround

The information below is from Peter Sealey, Project Co-ordinator, Lewes Rugby Club.

You may have seen the Press Release on the back page of the Sussex Express last week, reporting on a meeting that Lewes Rugby Club held with the District Council and we felt that you may like to have a little more detail.

Kingston Road Footway Clearance Day - The Results!

On Sunday 10th October, many residents gave up a few hours to help claim back some of the footway width on the western side of Kingston Road.

Over the years, the footway width has been eaten away by an accumulation of soil and weeds which have made it hard to identify its official boundary.  The council have only resurfaced the footway up to its apparent edge (rather than its official edge) which has only compounded the problem.

Have you got soaked walking around the corner of Kingston Road?

The gulleys on the corner of Kingston Road (just past the 30mph limit) have been overflowing during rain for some time.

The recent gulley cleaning works carried out on Southover High St and Kingston Road have been unsuccessful.

But this week (18th-22nd Oct), ESCC Highways have scheduled to undertake jetting works on these gulleys, so fingers crossed we won't have to run the gauntlet past there for much longer.

A27 Roadworks Start 1st Oct

Road users on a section of the A27 near Lewes in East Sussex are set to benefit from a new emergency gate that will help keep traffic flowing during roadworks and following incidents.

The gate will allow a contraflow to be set up quickly and easily on the A27 Lewes Bypass between the Ashcombe and Southerham roundabouts should one side of the road be closed.
