Egrets way Phase 3 seeks planning permission

By Dave - Posted on 23 April 2014

Dear Town and Parish Councils

Your council  has previously shown an interest in the Egrets Way project and I am writing to draw your attention to a Planning Application for the whole riverside route.

The Egrets Way has been selected by the South Downs National Park as one of the projects to benefit from a £3.8m government investment to improve cycling and in the South Downs. Following on from the opening of the Kingston to Lewes link (Egrets Way Phase1) last September, and the recent construction of a one mile section of bridleway between Rodmell and Southease (Phase 2) we now have an great opportunity to create more sections of the Egrets Way and, if further negotiations and funding bids are successful, there is the real possibility of achieving a complete network of user-friendly paths in the foreseeable future.

We have recently submitted a planning application for the  remainder of the river route between Lewes and Newhaven (Phase 3).The Planning application has the backing of the South Downs National Park, Sustrans and East Sussex County Council and we are now seeking your support.

You may have received notification details from the by post but you can view the application on line from the SDNPA web-site . Click on ‘public access system’ and enter the application number SDNP/14/01443/FUL. As you know you can make your comments on line using the above link to the planning application.

We would very much welcome your  Council’s support for the project by  adding  your comments to the panning application before the consultation closes on 7th May.

With many thanks

Yours sincerely

Neville Harrison
